I am deals_with_Cruiser
After 7 years on eBay and 3 years on an AFL card forum I signed up with gimko auctions
to list some items. My interests are AFL cards and old VFL scanlens.
For me cards represent innocence and balmy summer days trading with mates.
Riding your bike and playing cricket until those long summer nights dimmed.
The 1986 blue scanlen's set was the very first VFL series I ever collected.
I have gone back further since for older cards in later years.
The first series from memory was the yellow 1985/86 cricket series "clashes for the ashes"
which you are probably thinking places me firmly in the x generation of collectors.
And you'd be right in that assumption. In fact I read somewhere the average card collector
in australia is in his late 30's so I'm in good company. But i think young people should get into cards too.
It teaches them negotiation skills, patience, accountability to others, respect,
and adapting to different technology. And over the journey I have dealt with teenagers,
elderly..we all love our cards in a different way for different reasons. One thing about card collecting
that I know for certain -it can occupy a lifetime and transcend generations.
Card collecting is to many parents today the stamps and coins of our parents era.
Put away for their children for the days to come..
So here I am. always up for a trade or able to assist with info on scanlens collectors cards.
I am sure I will learn from you as well.
