Please read the Gimko Forum Rules before Posting
The Gimko forum is a place where you and your fellow collectors can interact and have discussions about topics relating to your favourite hobbies. However, we ask that you please follow these rules to ensure that the forum has some productive conversation.
These rules are enforced by the administrators and moderators of the forum, and at their discretion, may delete posts without warning that do not comply. Also, failure to comply with these rules or Gimko’s Terms of Use may result in a temporary ban or permanent ban from the forum and/or the entire site.
Rules
1. Written Language
This is an English spoken website, therefore all forum posts must be written in English. Any posts written in a language other than English may be removed without prior notice.
2. Moderation
Gimko forum uses a progressive moderation system. What this means is that serial offenders of the same offence will be met with harsher penalties, starting with a warning and eventually moving up to a permanent ban.
3. Flaming, Trolling and Baiting
Post or signatures flaming or trolling a particular collecting hobby will not be tolerated.
You have the right to express your opinion, as long as it is relevant to the thread topic, and you do so in a civil manner by justifying what you say. If you want to discuss something other than the thread topic, please make your own thread.
The forum is here for collectors of all persuasions, so unless you are in a thread specifically geared towards comparison/discussion, keep your uncalled-for comments out of the thread. Note that there is a difference between having a reasonable argument in the correct thread and trolling.
Similarly, do not create threads, posts or signatures just to bait people. Bait threads will be locked and you will be moderated. If you spend a lot of time making hit-and-run negative threads or posts about a specific collector groups and/or people you will also be moderated at the discretion of the moderators.
4. Spamming
Spamming or multiple short replies in a row without any substance will not be tolerated.
Note that some leniency in break and mailday threads will be allowed as there is just too much MOJO excitement to be had.
5. Thread Titles
Must be descriptive, on topic and most importantly work safe so keep the language in titles clean. Do not use the thread title to try and bait people into viewing your thread.
Note that TOTAL leniency is allowed and in fact ENCOURAGED by the Gimko Staff for mailday thread titles, as the aim is to bait people to view your latest acquisitions.
6. Duplicate Threads
Please refrain from creating duplicate threads on similar topics. However, at a moderator's discretion, threads may be merged if they are not sufficiently distinct from other active threads.
An example where duplicate threads may be merged is, you have created a few listing threads in basketball forum at the same time, i.e. one showing your Michael Jordan listing, one showing your Kobe Bryant listings and another Lebron James listings.
7. Avatars
Avatars should be work safe. You should ask yourself when selecting your Avatar is, what would a reasonable person be allowed to see at work without getting fired? As a rule of thumb if you want to play it safe, PG rated material. Should an avatar be deemed to be excessive, a moderator may elect to remove the avatar. In the event of removal, the moderator will inform the user of the actions taken.
8. Signatures
Signatures should not be excessively long and as Avatars, be work safe. Signatures must also comply with other forum rules and not be used as a loophole to break them (i.e. trolling or baiting users).
Limit your signature images to 250kb maximum as we want to be able to provide all users with a smooth experience.
9. Work Safe Content
Keep the content clean and work safe. If you need a fix for lewd content there are plenty of other sites out there for you to enjoy in your own space. Gimko is a forum for collectors and everyone should be free to visit your forum from any location without the fear of running into something inappropriate.
10. Insulting Others
Attacking other users for any reason is never acceptable.
Do not insult someone's religion, race, sex, sexuality, nationality, political beliefs, or collecting preferences. Gimko does encourage constructive debates and disagreements, but please respect the beliefs and opinions of your fellow collectors.
Similarly, do not insult without justification any person or group of people.
Please do not use slurs (i.e. f*g, n*gger, etc) as insults, even if not using in a malicious manner.
Do not personally insult other users (i.e. calling them a troll).
Please report incidents to one of the Gimko moderators when another user insults you instead of insulting them back and escalating the problem, making it unpleasant for other forum users.
In general please try to treat other users with respect and courtesy. We understand debates get heated, but do not lose yourself in them. Remember you can’t continue the debate if you are banned.
11. Bumping and Necro Bumping
Do not be a hog and give everyone's topic a chance to be seen. Please limit thread bumping to once every 24 hours.
Do not necro bump. What this means is don't revive very old threads were the discussion has run its course. An example is last years NBA finals discussion thread.
Note that some leniency will be allowed for necro bumping as the topic in that thread may be seasonal related. For example "Official" sports threads.
12. Quality of Language
Please make an effort to use full words, punctuation, paragraphs and capitalise the start of each sentence. Remember the easier you make it for others to read the more likely they will engage in your topic.
13. Copyright Content
GImko is not a site for piracy. Posting or requesting links to pirated material will result in moderation without prior notice. If the will to be a pirate is too strong, we highly recommend you depart this site and go sail across the seven seas.
